Samuel Yal will show a group of porcelain works among which two new sculptures as well as his iconic Dissolution.
Samuel Yal is a French sculptor. He uses porcelain as his favourite media. His work focuses on the body and face stressing their relation to the surrounding space. His sculptures, often suspended, emphasise on the presence and absence of the individual, the way one projects himself into the world and is conversely shaped by it.
Samuel Yal studied at ENAAI in Chambéry, France and in Sorbonne. He is a pensionnaire at Casa de Velazquez in Madrid tin 2016. Samuel Yal is also a film maker in animation, his second short-film will be screened in April 2016, a week before his new solo show Noevus. Samuel Yal exhibits mainly in France. He is the youngest sculptor who exhibited at Grandeur, at Museum Beelden aan Zee, The Hague, Netherlands in 2014.
In 2016 he realized his first experiemntal animation short film, Noevus, winning numerous awards in various International Festivals such as: Adana Golden Boll Film Festival, Adana, Turkey; Festival Hiroanim, Hiroshima, Japan; Festival Anca, Bratislava, Slovakia; Festival international de films d’animation, Bucheon, South Korea; Festival Locomocion d’animation expérimental, Mexico; CuOut Festival, Querétaro, Mexico; Festival Nacional d’animation, Bruz, France; Animex Festival,UK.
