On the occasion of the 12th Day of Contemporary Art by AMACI – Association of Italian Museums of Contemporary Art, within the frame of the exhibition Residenze #1 | Flavio Favelli – Gianni Politi, curated by Paola Ugolini, AlbumArte presents the concert of an unpublished contemporary music piece. The concert for voice and piano ties in with AlbumArte Music, a project by Andrea Fornaciari and Cristina Cobianchi, which aims at creating a dialogue between the audience and key figures of contemporary art and those of contemporary music. AlbumArte Music foresees two appointments per year, in which contemporary music concerts will take place in the spaces of AlbumArte along with visual art exhibitions.
Luca Lombardi | He is one of the most important and meaningful exponents of contemporary Italian music. He has based its activities on a steady search process of questioning and renewal. Lombardi’s work is pervaded by a committed humanism, in a constant comparison with the contemporary social and philosophical issues. Luca Lombardi studied composition in Rome, Florence, Wien, Cologne and Berlin (with A. Renzi, R. Lupi, K. Stockhausen, B.A. Zimmermann and P. Dessau among others), and then he graduated at the Conservatories of Pesaro with B. Porena. He earned a PhD in German Language and Literature (with a thesis on Hanns Eisler, later published by Feltrinelli). He taught composition at the Conservatories of Pesaro and Milan. He wrote more than 160 compositions, including four operas (Faust. Un travestimento, 1991; Dmitri oder der Künstler und die Macht, 2000; Prospero, 2006; Il Re nudo, 2009), three symphonies (1975, 1981, 1992), solo concertos (including E, Concerto per flauto), music for orchestra (including Terra, 2007 and Mare, 2012), chamber music (with and without voices) and for solo instruments. He got commissions from institution like Ircam (Paris), various German radio broadcasters, Swiss radio, RAI, Wiener Festwochen (Wien), the opera houses in Basel, Leipzig, Nuremberg, Rome and Milan (La Scala). His compositions are published by Schirmer, Moeck, Suvini-Zerboni and Ricordi. Currently his works are published by Rai Com. He held lectures and seminars throughout Europe, Israel, Latin America, USA and Japan. He was Fellow of the Institute for Advanced Study in Berlin, of the Hanse Institute for Advanced Study in Delmenhorst and was guest of “Berliner Künstlerprogramm des DAAD”. Invited by the Japan Foundation he spent six months in Japan. He is co-author of a treatise on orchestration (Instrumentation in der Musik des XX. Jahrhunderts, Celle, Germany, 1985). A selection of his writings was published with the title Construction of Freedom and other Writings edited by Juergen Thym (Baden-Baden, 2006). “Musik-Konzepte”, the series of publications about composers, dedicated to him a double issue (Munich, 2014). He received several awards including the SIAE prize for musical theatre (for his Opera Faust. Un travestimento), and the Petrassi prize. Joachim Gauck, President of the German Republic, awarded him the Merit Cross in 2015 (Bundesverdienstkreuz). He is a member of the Akademie der Künste, Berlin and of the Bayerische Akademie der schönen Künste, Munich. He lives between Marino (Rome) and Tel Aviv-Yafo.
Andrea Fornaciari | Alongside the position of artistic director, he worked as a guest conductor with established orchestras including the Luxembourg Philharmonic, Toscanini Philharmonic, N.Ö.Tonkünstler Orchester-Wien, Attergau Institut Orchestra, Progetto Mozart Orchestra, Filharmonie Bohuslav Martinu, Solists of Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra and Kunliga Operan Stockholm, Bergslagens Kammarsynfoniker, Philharmonia Mediterranea, Polska Iuventus Orchestra, Orchestra da camera di S.Giorgio, Symphonic State Orchestra-Kiev, State Orchestra Zilina, Polska Iuventus Orchestra, Benedetto Marcello Orchestra, Orchestra Regionale dell’Emilia-Romagna among many others. He also had important collaborations with significant soloists like Daniel Müller-Schott Tamsin Waley-Cohen, Pavel Berman, Mårton Larsson, Stefan Milencovich, Andrea Oliva, Karel Kosarek, Håkan Bjorkman, Andrea Bacchetti as well as Pietro de Maria, Carl Wolf, Jensen Sinham, Silja Schindler, Erika Colon and others. His music education began in Rome, his home city, at S. Cecilia, and then continued at the University of Music and Performing Arts -Vienna under the renowned conducting pedagouge Karl Österreicher. Afterwards he graduated under Leopold Hager. Teatro alla Scala, Dresden Opera, Taormina Festival are just few of several opera productions in which he took part appointed as assistent from M° Giuseppe Sinopoli: the intense collaboration with the world famous venetian composer allowed him to develop the post-romantic essential as well as the modern and contemporary repertoire. Besides, he conducted first performances of new works as, among many others, Fantasia concertante for viola and orchestra of I.Eröd,Metro of U. Algullins, Fantasia for soprano,organ and orchestra of M.Novak.
Natalie Lithwick | She was born in Canada, and began studying singing in Jerusalem with Cilla Grossmayer. After graduating in Literature and Philosophy from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, she pursued voice and music studies in Paris at the Ecole Nationale de Musique de Pantin, with Peggy Bouveret, and subsequently in Ferrara with Maria Gabriella Munari, and in Rome with Laura Niculescu. She began performing as a soloist with early music ensembles such as Les Monts du Reuil, La Selva, and Concerto Romano, and subsequently branched out to experimental music, collaborating with the IATO orchestra, the doublebass player Roberto Bellatalla, the percussionist Franco Nuzzo, and the composer Elio Martusciello. Her interest in transcending borders leads her to explore various landscapes, from Ladino to Lieder, from modal music to electronic ensembles.
