On Wednesday 19 December 2018, at 6:00pm, AlbumArte presents the book Il corpo delle donne (The body of women, INSIDEART AUTORI, 2018) by contemporary art critic and curator Lori Adragna. The event features the participation of the author and the artists involved in the project.
“This publication emerges from the desire to bring together all the materials from my research on Performance Art”, the author writes. “Without letting myself be limited by the need to explain everything,I have retrieved the Performance 2009-2017 folder from the archive where I keep all the different collection of my work. The result is a heterogeneous collection of writings, images, project proposals, e-mails, critical and poetic texts – residual documents from my field experience as curator of a series of actions that have taken place over the last eight years.”
The book is accompanied by a preface by Maria Giovanna Musso (professor of Sociology of Change, Creativity and Art at the University of Rome “La Sapienza”) and by an afterword by Mona Lisa Tina (visual artist and art therapist). It examines the productive relationship between performative language and the female body, a body that often becomes a political discourse, an essential space for the knowledge and awareness of female identity. Through her reflections and the contributions of the twelve artists involved in the publication, Lori Adragna also takes the opportunity to examine both the relationship between curator and artist as well as the dialectic between performative action and its documentation.
During the session, the author, together with Michela Becchis (art critic and historian) will introduce the key points of the book. The twelve artists featuring in the project will engage in the presentation through indirect contributions and performative reading interventions. The artists involved are: Tiziana Cera Rosco, Laura Cionci, Francesca Fini, Eva Gerd, Silvia Giambrone, Tamar Hayduke, Chiara Mu, Ginevra Napoleoni, Francesca Romana Pinzari, Paola Romoli Venturi, Alice Schivardi, Silvia Stucky.
