Sergio Racanati (Bisceglie, Puglia, 1982) lives and works between Milan and Bari.
He is currently working on the film project about the curatorial process of the ruangrupa collective that will direct the next dOCUMENTA XV/Kassel inside the ruruHaus.
Him last solo exhibition in June 2021 was at the SoutHeritage Foundation for Contemporary Art/Matera whose installation A futureless memory/ possibility of a memorial was acquired for the collection. He has received international recognition including the recent Art Residency award at “Officina Italiana” in Buenos Aires. Among the various artistic residencies which the artist has participated are those at Harvard University curated by Marcus Owens (2013); Z33 Contemporary Museum; Hasselt_B (2012), Performance Space / London_UK; Edge Zones Foundation / Miami_US curated by Charo Oquet. Winner of the award for the Performance Art section at the New York Direct Biennial co-curated by Vjitaly Patsyukov and Lu Hao (2013), he also participates in the Mediterranean Biennial (2012), the 7thBerlin Biennal, as part of the “Preoccupied” project at the KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Berlin_D (2013) and the Bienal del Fin del Mundo / Mar del Plata RA. In September 2019 he is invited to the Curitba Biennial (Brazil) where he presents the Performance Darkness and the film Debris/Detrti_Salinas Grandes in international premiere.
